I don't know if this has been done before, but I'm interested anyway...

I see regular names appearing on this board (eg. Beloved Monster, Alex, Generic Skinhead, Despin, Justin, Untamed Aggression, Miker, Bully the Kid, etc.) and I just wondered what everyone has done?

What are your experiences in film-making, what training have you done and what films have you made? This question goes to everyone...

Ok so lets see. Training? Experience? Well nothing really. But, I've made about 6 movies for school projects, some lame *** documentaries, and a few movies that were, if not scripted, at least plotted out.

I have experience in writing scripts, directing, producing, editing like crazy mad, and yeah thats probably about it.

Training - I did the Panico Foundation in Film course back in 95 I think.

Bummed around in London for about 3 years working on other people's films and pop promos directed by Guy Ritchie, everything from runner to sound recordist and even some AD-ing.

I got through to second round of interviews for the FT2 apprenticeship as a sound assistant - but the somewhat surprise birth of my son in 1998 has slowed down my film career somewhat.

Did a media studies a-level for 2 years, which I didn't find very helpful, now just completed first year of a media production course, which frankly kicks sphincter.

I studia media and video production up to BTEC HND.

Worked as a cameraman filming stuff from stock car racing, weddings, local panto to corporate promo and training stuff.

Currently working by day as a IT technician building non-linear editing systems, which is cool as I get to play with everything from Premiere to Avid and FCP. And working by night as an editor and producing training videos on stuff like Premiere and Pinnacle Edition.

I actually work in the music industry, film is a hobby of mine.

I've made a few shorts (nothing great) and am currently looking to make a proper movie, just trying to raise the $$$!

23, absolutley no media background, just finished science based degree at uni. Starting first proper job in a couple of weeks (worked in pubs and record shops for the last six years).

Just made 82 minute feature with an old school friend. Taken about 9 months to make, with a cheap mini dv camera borrowed from a friend. Total cost (film, microphone, props etc. but not travel, food and drink) came in at just under ?250. Will be screening film in a London cinema in a couple of weeks time.

Aware of benefits of starting with a short, but my primary intrest is not technical, but rather writing, and the stories i wanted to tell - while not epics - were not short stories.

Who are YOU Kev Owens?

I'm Generic Skinhead, or Genny Skin to my mates. I'm going into my third year of Film School in Dublin, a big one for me personally as I will be making my grad film-a super 16 masterpiece no less.

I've worked on tons of stuff, from tv, music videos, documentaries, fiction, studio dramas etc.

I'm editing a documentary I shot a couple of months back at the mo, in between a summer job, learning to drive and writing my next couple of films, including the afforementioned Super 16 epic.

Well Generic Skinhead (or can I call you Genny Skin?), I am Kev Owens...

I studied Media Studies at GCSE, 'A'- Level, and I'm just finishing a degree in Media Studies. In all that academic time I've worked on numerous projects including shorts and docu's- working mainly as Director.

In my 2nd year at Uni I decided that the practical side was not satisfying enough so I wrote a short, got in touch with a local production company and made it on a low budget. That film has just been accepted into the Edinburgh International Film Festival catalogue, which I was rather pleased about. [img]wink.gif[/img] (Also entered it for Raindance)

So anyone who's going to the Edinburgh Film Festival in August 2003- come and watch my short in the videotech!

I'm also about to go into pre-production on another short I wrote which was picked up by the Film Council (as writer only) which is the first professional (and paid!) film-making work I've done... hopefully there's more to come.
